You don’t have much time, so let’s concentrate on what’s important
It’s hard for many people to stay focused and pay attention.
We all want to get better at focusing, but it’s tough with so many things happening around us.
Here you will read about practical ways to enhance your focus and attention. You’ll find ways to concentrate even when there’s lots of stuff happening around you.
It talks about how our brains work and how to make sure we pay attention to what’s important. Learn how our brains function and how to prioritize what truly matters. Whether you’re aiming to concentrate on personal goals or work-related tasks. This resource provides comprehensive insights.
First, check how you’re doing by measuring what you’ve done.
The decline in focus frequently stems from a dearth of feedback.
Your brain really wants to know if you’re getting closer to your goals. To figure that out, you need feedback. Basically, it means checking and measuring what you’ve done to see how well you’re doing.
Lots of times, we care about things in our life without keeping track of them.
But that’s not good because measuring helps us focus better.
When we measure things, they often improve. For example, when I counted my pushups and did a hundred, I got stronger. Also, reading 20 pages every day helped me read more books. And paying attention to my values made my life better.
Those things I measured really helped me focus.
Sometimes, we don’t want to measure things because we’re worried about what the numbers might say about us. But measuring isn’t about judging who we are. It’s just about knowing where we are right now.
Measure to learn, not to be mean to yourself. It helps you understand yourself better and see if you’re spending time on what matters most. That way, you focus on what’s really important and ignore the things that don’t matter.
Here are some ways to help you focus better:
- Pick one main thing to do each day. Make it your top priority and organize your day around it.
- Work on hard stuff when you feel most energetic. Use that time for creative work, and do other business things later.
- Wait a bit before checking emails in the morning. That way, you can focus on your own tasks first.
- Keep your phone away at the start of the day. It helps you stay focused without texts or alerts.
- Use full-screen mode on your computer to block out distractions and concentrate better.
- Make your mornings simple and free of things that might distract you. And if skipping breakfast helps you focus, go for it!

Taking care of your body is super important.
Even if you do everything else perfectly — work deeply, cut out distractions — if you don’t look after your body, your mind and focus suffer.
There are a few key things here:
𝘎𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵. 𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 7 𝘵𝘰 9 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴, 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘵. Sleep helps your brain remember things and work well later on. Without enough sleep, you might forget stuff and struggle to concentrate.
Exercise is a big deal too. It makes your brain more flexible and helps you focus better. Plus, after a workout, your brain’s short-term memory is at its best.
Staying hydrated and getting enough oxygen is important. If you’re in a place with too much CO2 and not enough oxygen, like a plane, it’s harder for your brain to work well. Drinking water helps too — it keeps your concentration and skills sharp.
What you eat matters too. Too much soda or unhealthy food can mess with your brain and make it hard to focus. So, treat your body right if you want your brain to work its best.
If you’re new, hang around! I talk about thinking in new ways, how minds work, and winning using different methods.
That will benefit you in the future, for sure!
